The Building Owners and Managers Association of the Greater Toronto Area presented its prestigious Certificates of Excellence and Building of the Year Awards at its annual dinner held Wednesday April 14th at the Carlu. Adopting the art deco theme throughout, the event blended the old and the new with an introductory vignette covering the growth of Toronto from the late 1700's to the present. Noted Sunday Sun columnist, author and Toronto historian, Mike Filey was MC for the evening. Paul Finkbeiner, President of GWL Realty Advisors addressed the audience with his personal experiences and views on surviving in the commercial real estate market.

Now in its 6th year, the awards program consists of:

  • the "Certificates of Building & Management Excellence", recognizing quality in buildings and their management teams;
  • the BOMA Toronto TOBY (The Office Building of the Year ) Award; These winners are eligible to move on to the TOBY National Awards being held in Toronto this December.
  • Local award categories including the "Shopping Centre of the Year", the "Public Assembly Building of the Year" and the "Industrial Building of the Year".
  • the "Certificate of Environmental Excellence" and the "Earth Award" acknowledging those companies that have invested significantly in environmental management.
  • the "Pinnacle Award" recognizing companies and individuals who have put customer service at the forefront of their mission;
  • The BOMA Toronto Annual President's Award acknowledging an individuals contribution to the growth and visibility of BOMA Toronto.
