The BOMA Toronto Conservation and
Demand Management Program

BOMA President Michael Micelli and Executive VP Chuck Stradling are delighted to announce that the BOMA Toronto Conservation Demand Management (CDM) Program officially launched March 5, 2007.

Almost a year of planning and preparation have gone into this venture – brand new territory for BOMA Toronto. The diligence and commitment of BOMA Toronto’s Strategic Energy Committee has led to the creation and rollout of this Program. And without the vision and cooperation of the Ontario Power Authority, of course, it would not have happened. (Outsourcing the design and delivery of a CDM Program is a new frontier for the OPA as well!)

Participant Agreement now available

The Participant Agreement (UPDATED OCTOBER 1, 2007) sets out the terms and conditions of the contract between BOMA Toronto and applicants to the Program. BOMA and the Participant sign the Agreement immediately after the Program Manager approves an application for a Project, and issues the Project Number. Now all the information required to learn about and take advantage of a generous and well-designed Conservation and Demand Management Program are a click away in the links below. Please go download the Agreement to add to your Program reference material.

Revised Participant Agreement. In response to suggestions from Participants, BOMA has revised the BOMA CDM Program Participant Agreement. All applications received after 30 Setember 2007 will be processed using Revision 21 (R21). Effective immediately please ensure you use Revision 21 (R21) for your reference material on the Program.

Fuel Substitution has been approved as an eligible Measure

In response to a question from the floor at BOMA’s Energy & Environment Forum on March 27th, Program Manager Doug Taylor indicated fuel switching was not among the Measures eligible for an incentive under the BOMA Toronto CDM Program.

As a result of discussions subsequent to the Forum, the Ontario Power Authority has authorized BOMA to allow fuel switching – the replacement of an electrically-powered device by a gas-fired equivalent – as an eligible Measure, subject to Program Rules governing all other eligible Measures.

We have amended the various Program documents to reflect Fuel Substitution as an incentable Measure to reduce summer demand and annual consumption. We encourage applicants with electric-to-gas conversion opportunities to submit their applications to the Program. If you have comments or questions relating to this or any other aspect of the Program, please write program.manager@bomacdm.com, or call
