BPS Workshop #5: Renewable & Low-Carbon Energy – Economical approaches to addressing energy Supply

When:  Nov 23, 2023 from 09:00 to 11:30 (ET)

Building Performance Series Workshop #5: Low-Carbon & Renewable Energy – Economical approaches to addressing Energy Supply  [Virtual Session]

Energy efficiency and energy supply are two sides of the coin when it comes to reducing the environmental impact of energy use. Increasingly properties are exploring alternative energy supply solutions that lower their carbon footprint including low-carbon fuels, solar and district energy. This workshop will focus on how we can develop their strategy for their energy supply that lowers emission and (sometimes) costs, considering larger factors like peak demand/electrical capacity, existing building conditions, space requirements, and local utilities.  The use of Life Cycle Costing for financial evaluation of options will be presented.

The session will also feature two guest speakers! Chun Liang, Founder Tree House Energy Services, will provide expertise on conducting energy audits and Eric Chisholm - Co-Founder, Principal - Purpose Building Inc who will share the experience of transitioning the Royal York hotel to a zero-carbon building.
