Earth Hour Weekend Challenge

The Earth Hour Weekend Challenge engages properties to reduce energy waste over a full weekend and recognizes the greatest reduction at BOMA Toronto’s annual Celebration of Excellence Gala.

Participating in the Earth Hour Weekend Challenge is free and open to any building in Ontario 

  1. Register for the Earth Hour Challenge Weekend (Free)

  2. Look for operational savings and collaborate with tenants to eliminate unnecessary energy use

  3. Submit your submeter energy use for the three consecutive weekends leading up to, and including the Challenge Weekend. 

Through collaborative efforts, our hope is that landlords will continue to partner with tenants to collectively realize energy-saving strategies that in turn drive down operational costs and greenhouse gas emissions.

Challenge Period: Friday, March 22nd, 2024, at 6:00 PM until Monday, March 25th, 2024, at 6:00 AM*

*Data collection required weekend prior and weekend after Earth Hour Weekend

Interval Data Input Form

Registration to the building challenge is free & simple. Registration to the building challenge closes on April 5th, 2024, at 4:00 PM

Participating properties will compete for the Top Reducer Award. The award is presented to the building that achieves the Greatest Percentage Reduction (%) in electricity use (kWh). Recognition is determined by the greatest reduction in consumption during the Challenge Weekend when compared to the building’s average consumption over the previous two weekends. All Participants must have access to full raw interval meter data from your electricity provider. Data must be presented in the Interval Data Input form above. Data presented in other formats will not be accepted.
