If you own buildings 250,000 s.f. or larger, the deadline for reporting your annual consumption under the Energy and Water Reporting & Benchmarking (EWRB) Regulation is July 1, 2018.

Based on feedback from utilities, the number of affected building owners (or their representatives) submitting requests for aggregated data thus far is less than expected. This means that there are number buildings owners either still not aware of the regulatory requirements or not fully understand the necessary steps to report. The average processing time (for gas and electric utilities) is four weeks, and there is a big concern that they will not be able to accommodate a rush of last-minute requests.

It is also reported that there is a significant number of building owners fail to include correct Assessment Roll Numbers (ARN) and EWRB numbers in Portfolio Manager and/or fail to click on the link that allows the data to be shared with the ministry. In some cases the data that is uploaded into Portfolio Manager is not accessible to the ministry.

Feedback from some building owners indicate that there are building operations and management scenarios that do not fit the reporting schemas defined by the regulations or Portfolio Manager.

It is quite evident that there are some major hurdles that we need to overcome to meet the compliance requirements. Join this webinar to learn more about the various reporting issues and how to address them.
